Fanatik Bike of downtown Bellingham will donate 10 new bikes to the Bellingham Boys & Girls Club this spring.
The donation also includes ongoing upkeep and maintenance of the bikes.
"We just wanted to give back to the community, and we felt that this was the best way that we could try to make a difference," said Kathy Salisbury, who co-owns Fanatik with her husband Mark.
Fanatik Bike is also hosting its annual Ladies' Night Out event at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8. The event is open to customers and the public. All proceeds of customers' purchases will go toward the Fanatik-sponsored bike program at the Boys & Girls Club.
The event will feature prizes for the first 20 guests, appetizers and wine, savings on a big selection of bike, apparel and accessory brands, prizes and a special appearance by the owner of Loeka clothing.
"It's just a nice evening for women to get together," said Kathy Salisbury, who's been an avid rider for eight years. "I want to encourage other women to get out and ride. It's a great way to get outside, and I'd like to share that with others."
Fanatik is located at 2025 James Street.
