BELLINGHAM — The second teen charged with spray painting gang graffiti on Lynden Public Works Department vehicles in May pleaded not guilty in Whatcom County Juvenile Court Nov. 26.
The 14-year-old boy is charged with first-degree malicious mischief. His trial is set for Jan. 9.
Lynden police allege the boy and a 13-year-old friend broke into a Public Works Department vehicle lot May 11 to spray paint vehicles and discharge fire extinguishers inside an adjacent building, according to charging documents filed in Juvenile Court. The other boy already entered a not guilty plea; his trial is set for Jan. 25.
Both teens have already pleaded guilty to starting the June fire that engulfed Lynden’s Delft Square building. They were sentenced to time in juvenile detention and community service.
The Bellingham Herald does not publish the names of juveniles accused of crimes that do not involve serious injury or death.
