County leaders should not get increased pay

So, if I have this right, hiring freezes are in place, and Whatcom County departments are being asked to slash their budgets by 20 percent. Meanwhile, our top county officials have gotten themselves a nice big raise.

Wow, am I impressed!

What should we do if we need law enforcement, snow removal, or protection; call our execs directly? Maybe they can do some of the work of the unemployed people in the field.

I, for one, am exasperated with our illustrious politicians who fail to see that the buck stops with them. Taking raises in this economy, while people are losing jobs, is ludicrous. No one should be accepting higher dollars during these critical times. I fully intend to exercise my vote to sweep these people out of power.

Wake up Whatcom County; it's time to make ourselves heard.
