A bus accident on the way to the Tacoma Dome Friday, Nov. 28, forced the Bellevue high school football team to wait two extra days to punch its ticket to the Class 3A state championship game. In the end, the wait, and a change of venue to Lakewood's Harry Lang Stadium, did little to deter the Wolverines, who rolled past Capital 28-6 on Monday, Dec. 1.
Bellevue (13-0) will now turn its attention to a fellow undefeated, Union (13-0) of Camas. The championship game, which was rescheduled as a result of Friday's accident along Interstate 5, will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Tacoma Dome. For the Wolverines, it is their sixth state title game in the past eight years. They have taken home the top prize each time they played for it, though they lost in the semifinals in 2007 and in the quarterfinals in 2005.
