After helping the Nooksack Valley football team to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2002 and leading the Pioneers to a Class 1A Northwest Conference title, Wade Rediger has been named the NWC's Most Valuable Player in Class 1A.

Rediger, the Pioneers' starting quarterback, rushed for more than 1,000 yards and threw for more than 900 yards to help Nooksack Valley to a 10-2 record. He also combined to rush and throw for 26 touchdowns.

The Pioneers were well represented on the Class 1A all-conference team. Nooksack Valley placed players at eight positions on the first-team, including two-way selections Dante Aure and Drew Oliver.

Meridian also placed players at eight positions and Lynden Christian filled five spots. Among those for Meridian was senior Ryder Chance who was named to the all-conference first-team at wide receiver, defensive back, and punter, and second-team as a kicker. The Trojans' Zach Slesk was named the first-team quarterback.

In all, 20 seniors were selected to either the first or second teams, 19 juniors, and 13 sophomores. The teams are selected by Class 1A coaches from the Northwest Conference and Friday Harbor.
