JESSI ROBERTS

School: Lynden

Sport: Volleyball

Year: Senior

Position: Outside hitter

What she did: In her last time in a Lynden uniform, Roberts helped the Lions end the Class 2A State Tournament with a win and bring home the third-place trophy. Roberts finished the state tournament with 72 kills and 41 aces in Lynden's four matches.

Coach's quote: "She was definitely our go-to player. She put balls away when we needed. She is not only a leader with the force of putting balls away, but she is also a verbal leader. She helped our team get back up when they needed it mentally. She is consistent and positive, and she's fun to be around and coach." - Chris Elsner

DAVID GAYLORD

School: Lynden

Sport: Football

Year: Senior

Position: RB/DE

What he did: Gaylord had a strong game against Blaine in the Class 2A state quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 21, earning the Lions' Offensive Back Player of the Week award after gaining 157 yards on 27 carries. Gaylord also was selected Defensive Lineman of the Week with a recovered fumble, that helped change the momentum in Lynden's 21-7 win, and received the "Big Hit" of the Week award.

Coach's quote: "Two years in a row now David has played his best football of the season during our playoff runs. He has the ability to make a huge impact on a game, and he's done that on both offense and defense. He's a big physical guy, and I'm glad he's on our team" - Assistant Coach Blake VanDalen
