PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lynden's Roberts selected conference MVP

For the second time in the last three season Lynden's Jessi Roberts have been named the Northwest Conference's most valuable volleyball player.

Roberts leads an All-NWC list dominated by Lynden volleyball players. Along with Roberts, five other Lions' volleyball players were named to the first or second teams. Lynden raced through the regular season undefeated and placed third at the Class 2A state tournament this year.

Roberts, who was also named MVP of the conference as a sophomore, collected nine out of a possible 13 first place votes for the MVP award. Burlington-Edison's Kinsey Davis finished second in the balloting.

Joining Roberts on the All-NWC first team was senior outside hitter Hannah Swanson, senior setter Alayna Kramme, and senior middle blocker Averyl Shindruk. Burlington-Edison was the only other school with multiple first-team selections. Freshman setter Katlyn Mataya was the other Tigers player on the first team.

Davis and Sehome's Madisyn Leenstra earned first-team honors for the second straight year. Roberts, who is going on to play at Oregon State University next season, has been named to either the All-NWC first team or the conference's MVP in each of the last three seasons.

The teams are selected by the NWC volleyball coaches.
