A trio of runners from Sehome high competed in the 10th Annual Border Clash cross country meet Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Nike campus in Beaverton, Ore. The Mariners' Clinton Overman placed 42nd in 15 minutes, 4.30 seconds, and Scott Carlyle was 64th in 15:20.66 in the boys race which pitted the top distance runners from Washington against those from Oregon. Washington's boys swept the team portion of the race 45-144, which took points for the top nine finishers from each team, while the Oregon girls earned the state's first Border Clash team victory since 2004 by a score of 73-98. In the boys competition, a Washington runner occupied the top 14 spots, led by champion Andrew Kimpel of Pasco's North Central High School, who won in 14:07.30 and runner-up Shane Moskowitz (14:09.34) of Central Kitsap High School. Josh Elliot of Crater High School in Central Point, Ore., led the Oregon boys with a 15th place finish in 14:36.87.
