Landowners apply for 103-home development on Point Roberts

BLAINE

The city of Blaine is seeking environmental permits from the state Department of Ecology for its Semiahmoo Parkway Improvements 2007 project, which involves construction of stormwater facilities, sidewalks and repaving. It also involves reconstruction of a parking lot. The project is along Semiahmoo Parkway from Mallard and Shearwater roads to Semiahmoo Park. Comments can be sent to the DOE, Stormwater, P.O. 47696, Olympia, WA 98504-7696 by Aug. 21.

FERNDALE

The Ferndale Planning Commission will hold a hearing on Greg Knutson's proposal to annex about 45 acres, about 1,250 feet north of Smith Road and the northern end of Shields Road, into the city. The properties are at 5404, 5411, 5434 Shields Road and 1385 Smith Way. The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 13 in City Hall Annex, 5694 Second Ave. Comments can be sent until Aug. 13 to planner Jori Burnett, P.O. Box 936, Ferndale, WA 98248.

WHATCOM COUNTY

Whatcom County decided that a project by Trillium Corp. to cut timber, remove stumps and chip them and replant grass is unlikely to have a significant negative environmental impact. The project is off of Semiahmoo Drive south of where Elderberry Lane connects. Comments can be sent to the county planning department, 5280 Northwest Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226, by Aug. 2.

The county received applications from Stanton Land Holdings to build a 103-lot residential subdivision, called Point Roberts Beach Club, on 103 acres at 2200 APA Road on Point Roberts. Landowners also applied for a conditional-use permit to build a 6,000-square-foot community center with pool and parking. Comments can be sent to the county planning department by Aug. 4.
