Q: Who should I call if I hear a cougar near my house?

A: "If you hear a cougar, there's not too much you can do, but if you see one, call 911. Never approach the animal — stay in the house and don't go looking for it. The emergency crew will come out for protection and will contact the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife."
