Through the Whatcom County Council on Aging, the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department operates eight senior centers. Each center has a full calendar of events. Health care for seniors is provided through a wellness program. Services may include glaucoma screening, hearing tests, cholesterol testing and health education lectures.

The county Nutrition Program supplies nutritious meals at many centers for seniors able to leave their homes and delivers meals to those not able to prepare their own. Suggested donation for hot lunch or Meals on Wheels is $3 per meal for age 60 and older, $4.50 for those younger than 60.
