Greg Alexander threw for 315 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Hawaii Warriors defeated the Washington State Cougars, 24-10, in non-conference action at Aloha Stadium.

Alexander converted 19-of-34 passing for the Warriors (7-5), was intercepted once and survived five sacks on the night as the squad won its third straight game.

The Cougars (2-11), losers of eight of their last nine, generated a total of just 196 yards of offense, 53 of those coming from Dwight Tardy who scored the only touchdown of the game for the visitors. The squad passed for a mere 76 yards between Kevin Lopina and JT Levenseller, the duo getting sacked a combined five times.

The Warriors moved out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Alexander hit Greg Salas with a 19-yard scoring strike and then Daniel Libre made his way into the end zone on a two-yard run at the 3:18 mark of the period. Salas finished the outing with seven catches for 131 yards.

Washington State cut into the lead in the second period when Nico Grasu knocked through a 26-yard field goal, but Hawaii responded late in the first half with a 22-yard field goal by Dan Kelly to make the score 17-3 at the break.

The Cougars drew to within seven points in the third when Tardy crossed the goal line from a yard out, but again the Warriors responded later in the quarter when Alexander hit Michael Washington with a 44-yard TD pass, giving the home team the 14-point win.

Following the game the Warriors accepted a spot in this year's Hawaii Bowl, marking the program's fifth trip to the contest since 2002. Hawaii has won the postseason event three times previously against Houston, UAB and Arizona State.
